   About Gerry

Evangelist and gospel singer Gerry Thompson migrated to Canada from Jamaica at the age of eleven. At the time of his arrival he experienced what could be termed as "culture shock".

At this phase in his life, he became involved with, and was exposed to negative influences. As a young man he moved to Miami, Florida where he continued to be involved with the "streets".

Fourteen years ago, following a remarkable spiritual experience while living in Florida, Gerry turned his life around.

With this conversion came a new vision. Gerry never forgot the people he left behind, and has invested the last ten years of his life trying to assist them in making positive changes in their life. Gerry makes it a priority to alert his audience to the needs of our young people.

His volunteer work has included motivational speaking at schools and community events, one-on-one mentoring with young people in trouble with the law, and work with the police community program Crime Stoppers, in which he conducts crime and drug prevention workshops. He also accompanies young men to court - those whose parents have either given up on them or those who cannot get time off work to attend their trials.

Thompson is an ordained Pentecostal minister. He is also a singer, songwriter, and producer. His repertoire includes country-gospel, Negro spirituals, and Caribbean reggae rhythms.

LEARNING TO LEAN, Gerry's album release, is inspired by his grandmother Sister Trudy Simpson, at whose knees he learned to sing the gospel at an early age. This album is dedicated to her memory, and features the song I'm Glad To Be Home Again, written by Gerry Thompson.

Other releases by Gerry are Just A Closer Walk which includes his personal testimony entitled Why I Put The Gun Down. I'm Glad To Be Home Again, includes a recipe for positive living, which is entitled Heaven's Grocery Store, and a third album God Isn't Through With Me Yet, is geared towards the youth.
